Our Roots in Pella

Our Roots in Pella

Clover Leaf on Franklin is part of a family tradition that began in the early 1950s when Bill and Stella Huyser purchased the Clover Leaf Dairy on Washington Street in Pella. Generations later, their great-granddaughter, Kelly Bandstra, grew up surrounded by farm life and fresh ingredients, learning early lessons in creativity and cooking on the family kitchen floor.

Kelly’s love for food grew alongside her work on the dairy farm north of Monroe. With the freedom to experiment in the kitchen and guidance from a well-loved red-checked Better Homes and Gardens cookbook, she developed her skills, learning both the joy and discipline of preparing meals from scratch.

Starting Our Own Journey

In 2021, Kelly and her family opened de Kelder Speakeasy, offering small bites and creative cocktails in a cozy basement setting. The following year, they launched Clover Leaf Kitchen, providing light catering, box lunches, and take-and-bake freezer meals to the community.
